Hydroxyapatite is a calcium phosphate mineral. In the material, its crystals are integrated into the volume of the PEEK and are exposed to the finished surface, seeking to favor direct contact with the bone.
The aforementioned preclinical studies indicate greater bone apposition in sheep models. The clinical record of ACDF reports favorable evolution of fusion, pain and function, but its observational design does not allow attributing results only to the material.
